14th Annual Eid Banquet

The Yale Chaplain’s Office and MSA cordially invite you to the 14th annual Eid Banquet on Tuesday, October 6th in Commons Dining Hall.  The doors will open at 5:30 pm and the program will start at 6:00 pm.  So please mark your calendars and make sure to RSVP!  Come dressed in your best cultural and formal attire to celebrate!

This year’s keynote speaker is Ustadh Ubaydullah Evans, who is the first Scholar-in-Residence for the American Learning Institute for Muslims (ALIM). He converted to Islam while in high school. Upon conversion, Ustadh Ubaydullah began studying some of the foundational books of Islam under the private tutelage of local scholars while simultaneously pursuing a degree in journalism from Columbia. Since then he has studied at Chicagoland’s Institute of Islamic Education (IIE), in Tarim, Yemen, and Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, where he graduated from its Shari’a program. Ustadh Ubaydullah is also an instructor with the Ta’leef Collective and the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN). Ustadh Ubaydullah is married with two children.
 
We are also looking for one senior and one freshmen to present Senior and Freshmen reflections at the banquet.  So if you are interested in offering a short 3-minute reflection, please email <elamin.elamin@yale.edu> before Wednesday, September 30th to be considered.
