What We Do

Founded in 1991, the Yale Muslim Students Association (MSA) has long served as a home away from home for Muslim students, fostering a vibrant community that embraces and supports everyone, regardless of their background. The MSA is dedicated to building a strong, unified community where students can grow in their faith (deen), find meaningful connections, and thrive academically and spiritually. Through various initiatives and events, the MSA ensures that every member feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to deepen their understanding and practice of Islam.

Speaker Events

The MSA proudly hosts a diverse range of speakers on Yale's campus, bringing in voices from all over the world. From esteemed Islamic scholars and prominent activists to industry professionals, we provide opportunities for our community to learn from their experiences and wisdom. These events enrich our understanding, inspire our growth, and connect us to the broader global community, helping us navigate both our personal and professional journeys.

Community Building

From game nights to laser tag adventures, the MSA is all about creating fun and meaningful experiences that help Muslim Yalies feel right at home. We're committed to building a strong sense of brotherhood and sisterhood, making sure everyone feels like they belong in our vibrant community. Whether it's through casual hangouts or exciting events, we’re here to support and connect with one another.

Advocacy and Activism

We are committed to standing up for the issues that matter to Muslim Yalies, whether it's advocating for single-gender housing or ensuring Halal compliance in the dining halls. Beyond campus, we strive to spread awareness and stand up for our brothers and sisters in distress around the world. As the Prophet ﷺ said, "The believers, in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion, are like one body; if one limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever." We take this teaching to heart, working to support the global Muslim Ummah wherever there is a need.

Community Service

As Muslims, we have an obligation to help those in need around us, and the MSA is dedicated to serving the community with compassion. Through our Breaking Bread and Barriers initiative, we distribute bags of sandwiches to those in need in the New Haven community every week before Jummah. This is just one of our ways of making a positive impact and fulfilling our duty to care for others.
